Position Summary:

Due to ongoing growth, Trulioo is seeking a business-minded Legal Counsel who thrives in a fast-paced and collaborative environment to join our team. You will play a key role in supporting critical business functions by negotiating commercial agreements and partnering with internal stakeholders to progress key deals and enable growth and innovation objectives.

You will take ownership of day-to-day commercial matters and contribute to the improvement of internal legal processes as the team continues to scale. This role offers strong exposure to cross-functional work and the opportunity to operate as a partner to the business. The ideal candidate is comfortable managing multiple priorities, demonstrates sound judgment and provides practical, solutions-oriented guidance. You bring a low-ego, team-first mindset, take pride in your contributions and are motivated by the opportunity to grow alongside a high-performing, high-impact team.

This will be a full-time, permanent position working out of the Vancouver office on a hybrid model (3-days per week in the office).

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Negotiate and manage complex commercial agreements across a global customer and supplier base.

  • Provide clear, sound, timely and practical legal advice to internal stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to structure and negotiate new business deals.

  • Exercise sound judgment on when to make independent decisions and when to seek guidance

  • Identify opportunities to improve standard agreements and processes to increase efficiency and consistency.

  • Stay up to date on current laws and best practices as they relate to Trulioo to mitigate risk.

What You’ll Bring:

  • LL.B. or J.D. degree (or equivalent).

  • Good standing with a Canadian Law Society.

  • 4+ years of experience gained at a top tier law firm and/or relevant in-house experience.

  • Flexible, collaborative and adaptable working style.

  • Growth-oriented mindset and a natural curiosity to tackle challenges.

  • Ability to multiple files and pivot as necessary to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly-changing environment.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Excellent communication skills, strong business acumen, sound judgement, and solid negotiation skills.

  • Commitment to excellence and a strong sense of accountability.

  • Experience supporting commercial transactions in a fast-paced or high-growth environment is an asset.
